Ellen G. Lofgren, 81, of Barnum, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, in Carlton Nursing Home. She was born in Duluth and moved to Blackhoof Township, where she grew up and attended school.
She worked at Moose Lake State Hospital and at Diamond Match in Cloquet. On Nov. 1, 1947, Ellen married Fred Lofgren in Elim Lutheran Church in Blackhoof Twp. They lived in Barnum Twp., where they farmed. Ellen was a member of Elim Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She also had been a 4-H leader for the Nemadji 4-H Club. Ellen was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She loved her family and enjoyed baking and cooking for them. Ellen will be sadly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hilda Wik; a brother, Philip Wik; twin grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremy Lofgren; and a granddaughter, Mandy Lofgren.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Fred; sons: Charles (Helen) Lofgren, Norman (Sue) Lofgren, Arnold (Darlene) Lofgren, and Roger (Gwen) Lofgren; daughters: Joyce Lofgren, and Yvonne (Craig) Peterson; sisters: Erma Duesler, and Esther Wik; and 12 grandchildren.
