"The next thing I want to write about now is about Icelanders."
"81. In the same autumn Kjartan Olavson came to Nidaros from Iceland; Kjartan was the son of Olav, the son of Hoskuld, and he was the daughter of Egil Skallagrimson; people say he has been the very best young man ever born in Iceland. There was also Halldor, son of Gudmund at Modruvellir, and Kolbein, son of Tord Frøysgode and brother of Brenne-Flose; the fourth was Sverting, son of Runolf good. All these were Gentiles, and there were many others with them, some mighty and some petty. At the same time, there were some other great men from Iceland, people who had learned Christianity from Tangbrand; it was Gissur Hvite, son of Teit Kjetilbjørnson, his mother was Ålov, daughter of Bodvar herse, son of the Viking Corps. Bodvar's brother was Sigurd, father of Eirik Bjodaskalle, father of Astrid, mother of King Olav.
From Snorre Sturlason: Olav the Saint's story:
"69. ... Bjorn and his companion rode their way, and came to Earl of Ragnvald. There they were well received. There were many people who had heard of Bjorn, and all who had seen King Olav knew him both by appearance and voice, for Bjorn stood up on all things and spoke on the king's behalf. Ingebjorg, the earl's wife, went to Hjalte and kissed him; she knew him, for she was with Olav Trygveson, her brother when Hjalte was there, and Hjalte reckoned friendship between the king and Vilborg, who was Hjalte's wife: Eirik Bjodaskalle was the father of Astrid, mother of King Olav Trygveson; and Bodvar was the father of Ålov, the mother of Gissur Hvite, the father of Vilborg, and the two, Eirik and Bodvar, were brothers and sons of Vikinge-Kåre, the countryman at Voss ». 1)
