Sylvia Marie Fischer was born on September 12, 1933 to John and Elizabeth (Rettig) Fischer in Hankinson, ND. She attended grade school at St. Francis Academy and relocated with her parents and two brothers to Roslyn, SD, where she graduated from high school in 1951. She worked at the Farmers & Merchants Bank in Roslyn and later moved to Fargo, ND to work for Bell Telephone Company and attend business college. Later in her married life, she worked as a part-time book keeper for the Rosholt School system and Ireland's Lumber Company.
Sylvia married the love of her life, Robert Bergstrom on June 25, 1955 and celebrated 57 wonderful years with Bob before his death in October 2012. To this union, two children were born, Daniel Robert and Michelle Renee.
Sylvia's family was her top priority. She totally spoiled husband Bob, enjoyed attending her children's sporting events, loved to bake (especially her famous bread and caramel rolls) and was well known for never letting her guests leave the dinner table without multiple helpings of roast beef and mashed potatoes. Sylvia enjoyed playing cards and other games with local friends, enjoyed having coffee with the girls at the C-Store and walking. Once her grandchildren were born, Sylvia became an amazing Grandmother whose unconditional love and support will not be forgotten. Sylvia was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Dan Bergstrom and wife, Liz of Sioux Falls, SD and Michelle Anderson and husband, Kevin of Verona, WI; and 5 grandchildren, Katelin, Aubrey, and Brett Bergstrom and Hannah and Meghan Anderson. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Eugene Bergstrom and wife Renee of Elgin, MN; and four sisters-in-law, Leona Fischer of Hankinson, ND, Marcy Johnson of Rosholt, Diane and husband, Gary Halse of Bloomington, IL and Bonnie and husband, Sid Storm of St. Cloud, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, James and Jerome; and her parents. | |
