Obituary for Lennart W. Larson
Lennart Larson (Len) (81) of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, and their four children.
Lennart is predeceased by his father, Johan, and mother, Anna, both from Sweden; and sister, Ingrid. He is survived by his four children, Cynthia, Lennart, Anna, and Christopher; their spouses, Roy, Diane, Steven, and Melody; ten grandchildren, Nicole (Keith), Jaclyn, Danny, Samantha, Kelly, Michael, Andrew, Evan, Olivia, and David; and one great granddaughter, Margot.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he attended the Metropolitan Vocational High School on the Liberty Ship John W Brown, which he continued to support through the alumni association. After graduating in 1959, he served in the Merchant Marines, where he traveled the world.
In 1961 he married his sweetheart, Elizabeth Jacoberger. They lived briefly in Teaneck, Garfield, Lincoln Park, Oak Ridge, and Dumont, eventually settling in Waldwick, NJ for 20 years, where they raised their family until retiring in Toms River. Lenny the Lump was an electrician and a proud member of the IBEW Local 164 for 50 years.
Lennart was an avid fisherman, accomplished woodworker, voracious reader, treasure hunter, and prolific storyteller. So much to so many, Lennart was kind, good humored, generous, and loving. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
A celebration of Lennart's life will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral services will begin at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
