Carol W. Zuercher, 75, of Narragansett, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017. She was the wife of the late Det. Lt. Narragansett Police Department Richard F. Zuercher.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Roger W. and Myrtle V. (Johnson) Wheeler.
Carol was a book keeper for De LaSalle Christian Brothers in Narragansett and also worked at South County Hospital medical records before retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary FOP, and a leader for Campfire Girls and involved in Narragansett Little League for many years. She was an avid quilter and co-founder of Canonchet Quilters, and a member of the Sprague Fund.
She is survived by her children Donna Zuercher of Exeter, Joanne Hamilton, Richard Zuercher, Jr. both of Narragansett, Lynn Castro of North Kingstown, and James Zuercher of Stratford, CT; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Barbara Wheeler and John Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Rd., Narragansett. Burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the activities fund at Westerly Health Center or The Inez Sprague Fund.
