They had a good life in America. Grandpa worked in a factory. They had a small but lovely home with a view of Lake Chautauqua that he and my dad built. Grandpa worked hard. He loved to fish and hunt and in his later years learned to golf and loved that.
Jamestown, NY is a town full of Swedes so they did feel right at home. They spoke Swedish all their lives to friends and to each other. Grandpa taught me Swedish songs and dances and we always had Swedish food for Christmas and he made the most delicious Swedish pancakes. Källa: Barbara Schmit | |
