Henning E. Ekstrom, 86, 1331 5th Ave., died at 12:38 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 1974, in Swedish American hospital after a short illness. Born June 2, 1888 in Ostergotland, Sweden. Lived 68 years in Rockford, coming here from Ostergotland. Married the former Lillian Littergren in Rockford, July 1, 1926. He was a tool and die maker for Rockford Tool and Die Co. for many years. Following World War II, he opened the Ekstrom Confectionary Store on 7th Street. He was in business with former Alderman LeRoy Anderson, retiring in 1958. He was a member of the Harold Lodge -- S. F. of A. Survivors include his widow, Lillian; two nieces, Mrs. Pearl Lantz and Mrs. Eva (?) great-nephews, Harris Anderson, Granada Hills, Calif., and Richard Markland, Long Lake, Minn., and several nephews in Sweden.
Services at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fred C. Olson mortuary 1001 2nd Ave. with Rev. Arthur Chell, associate pastor of Zion Lutheran church, officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
